LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), April 25 (SeeNews) – Telekom Austria said on Tuesday its wireless unit in Slovenia, Si.mobil posted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of 12.1 million euro ($13.2 million) in the first quarter of 2017, down 13.5% on the year, chiefly due to increased costs and expenses.
Si.mobil’s revenues increased an annual 2.3% to 52.9 million euro through March, primarily due to the volume-driven increase in fixed-line service revenues, Telekom Austria said in its Q1 2017 financial statement.
"Mobile service revenues increased due to higher interconnection revenues, while higher monthly mobile fees could only partly offset the decrease in airtime revenues and lower customer roaming revenues due to the stepwise abolition of retail roaming in the EU," Telekom Austria said.
Si.mobil's total costs and expenses increased by 8.1% year-on-year on the back of higher revenue-related costs for content and equipment, as well as rising costs for employees and for advertising of the newly introduced A1 product brand.
