LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 15 (SeeNews) – Slovenian light aircraft maker Pipistrel has been certified by the British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) as being compliant with the highest standards in design and production of light aircraft for the UK market, Slovenia's foreign ministry said.
Pipistrel is the first company outside of the UK to be granted a BCAR A8-21 approval certificate by the CAA, the company said in a separate press release.
In May, the CAA issued Pipistrel a permit to fly under the British call-sign, opening up British skies to Pipistrel motorplanes, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
Pipistrel, based in Ajdovscina, was established in 1989. It was the first private aircraft producer in Yugoslavia.
