March 23 (SeeNews) - The net profit of commercial banks in Slovenia rose 66.1% on the year to 38.5 million euro ($41.9 million) in January, the central bank said.
The banks' net interest income grew 90.2% to 101.5 million euro in the period under review, whereas non-interest income edged down 0.7% to 39.4 million euro, Bank of Slovenia said in its monthly report on the performance of the banking sector.
The total gross income of banks in Slovenia grew 51.4% to 140.9 million euro in January, while operating costs increased 32.5% to 95.7 million euro.
"The share of non-performing exposures (NPEs) was 1.1%, which is less than the average of the euro area," the central bank said.
The banks' total assets fell to 50.439 billion euro at end-January, up from 50.600 billion euro at the end of 2022.
