March 1 (SeeNews) - The net profit of commercial banks in Slovenia declined 5.1% to 498.7 million euro ($527.6 million) in 2022, the central bank said.
The banks' net interest income grew 19.6% to 747.8 million euro in the period under review, whereas non-interest income went down 2.3% to 567.3 million euro, Bank of Slovenia said in its monthly report on the performance of the banking sector.
The total gross income of banks in Slovenia grew 9.1% to 1.315 billion euro in 2022, while operating costs increased 5.7% to 758.3 million euro.
"The share of non-performing exposures (NPEs) returned to the lowest level of 1.1% in December (down by 0.1 of a percentage point). With the exception of the hospitality industry, the increase in NPE from previous months has stopped," the central bank said.
The banks' total assets grew to 50.600 billion euro at end-December, up from 48.252 billion euro at the end of 2021.
