July 25 (SeeNews) - The net profit of Slovenian banks increased 16.4% year-on-year in the first five months of 2019, reaching 268.3 million euro ($299 million), the central bank said.
The banks' net interest income rose 4.4% to 277.6 million euro in the period under review, whereas their net fee and commission income added 5.8% to 139.4 million euro, Bank of Slovenia said in a monthly report on the performance of the banking sector published on Tuesday.
The total gross income of banks in Slovenia rose 8.2% year-on-year in the first five months to 546.1 million euro, while operating costs increased 3.2% to 276.8 million euro.
The banks' total assets grew to 39.97 billion euro as at end-May, from 38.78 billion euro at the end of 2018.
