June 30 (SeeNews) - Slovenia will keep Croatia on its list of coronavirus-safe countries, believing the authorities in Zagreb will manage to tame the recent surge in the number of new infections, a Slovenian government spokesman said on Tuesday.
"A decision has been adopted that Slovenia does not drop Croatia from the list of safe countries. We are giving Croatia the chance to limit the growth with consistent measures," the spokesman in charge of coronavirus matters, Jelko Kacin, said on his Twitter account.
He added that Croatia has decided to adopt Slovenia's patterns of behaviour by temporarily closing nightclubs, discos, as well as cancelling major events.
On Monday, Kacin warned that Ljubljana might remove its neighbour from the list of coronavirus-safe countries as Croatia has exceed the required cumulative value of 10 infected per 100,000 population in 14 days.
On Tuesday, Croatia reported 52 new coronavirus cases, lifting the number of total infections to 2,777. Out of the total, 2,155 have recovered and 107 have died.
Slovenia reported 15 new infections on Tuesday, with the overall number of confirmed coronavirus cases rising to 1,600. A total of 111 people have died from the disease.
