January 7 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's government has adopted a digital transformation strategy targeting a spot among the top three countries in EU Commission's Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI) by 2030, it said.
The programme is focused on the development of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data processing, data chain technologies, high-performance computing, quantum computing and 5G technologies that will drive economic growth and competitiveness, the government said in a statement on Thursday.
Slovenia will invest 26.5 million euro ($30 million) in the implementation of the strategy in 2022, 24 million euro in 2023 and 6 million euro in 2024 in cooperation with the SPIRIT Slovenia Public Agency, the Slovenian Enterprise Fund and SID Bank, the government added.
Under the strategy, the government will launch in January digital transformation and hybrid cloud tenders in which it will invest 44 million euro and 2.5 million euro, respectively, while bids in a 10 million euro tender for projects of common EU interest will be invited in the second quarter of 2022,.
Slovenia currently ranks 13th in DESI, slightly above the EU average, while the top three spots are occupied by Denmark, Sweden and Finland.
