LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 10 (SeeNews) – Slovenia swung to trade deficit of 61.3 million euro ($68.7 million) in the first five months of 2019, from a surplus of 256.7 million euro in like period of last year, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Exports rose to 10.3% year-on-year to 14.0 billion euro in the period under review, whereas imports increased 12.6% to 14.1 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in January-May, absorbing 10.7 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 10.5 billion euro of its imports.
In the month of May, Slovenia's trade balance was in surplus of 128.5 million euro, as exports rose 10.6% on the year to 2.9 billion euro and imports expanded 4.7% to 2.8 billion euro.
