LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), June 9 (SeeNews) – Slovenia turned to a 586 million euro ($660 million) trade surplus in the first four months of this year, from a 128 milion euro deficit in the like period of 2019, as imports fell faster than exports, the country's statistical office said on Tuesday.
January-April exports dropped 2.6% on the year to 10.8 billion euro, while imports fell 9.4% to 10.2 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in January-April, absorbing 7.1 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 6.9 billion euro of its imports.
In April alone, Slovenia's exports declined 38.8% on the year to 2.0 billion euro, while imports plunged 41.2% to 1.9 billion euro, resulting in a 149 million euro trade surplus for the month.
