October 16 (SeeNews) - A tie-up of Slovenian companies Kolektor CPG, CGP and VOC Celje started the construction of a 17.5-kilometre section of a motorway that will connect the northern Koroska region to the country's south, state-controlled motorway company DARS said.
The construction of the section, estimated to cost 8.5 million euro ($10 million), is planned to be completed within 14 months, DARS said in a statement on Thursday.
The section from Velenje Jug junction to Slovenj Gradec Jug junction forms part of the so-called Third Development Axis motorway, which will connect the Koroska region to Dolenjska in the south.
In October 2019, the Slovenian government said it will provide a loan guarantee of up to 360 million euro to DARS to finance the construction of sections of the Third Development Axis.
