March 23 (SeeNews) - A third person has died from the novel coronavirus in Slovenia, as the number of infected rose to 442 by 2 p.m. on Monday, from Sunday's 414, the National Institute for Public Health, NIJZ, said.

Like the first two fatalties, the person who died on Monday was above 65 years of age, NIJZ said in a statement.

It added that the latest data came as a result of testing a total of 13,812 people.

Most of the infected are in the 30-49 age group, followed by people over 60 age and people in the 50-59 age bracket, the data showed.

Last week, health minister Tomaz Gantar said the number of people infected by the coronavirus in the country is probably five times the officially confirmed cases, as the government declared a state of emergency, closing down schools, kindergartens, border crossings, public transport and cancelled all passenger flights inside the country.

The first confirmed coronavirus case in Slovenia was reported on March 4.
