LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 9 (SeeNews) – Slovenia posted a trade surplus of 750.7 million euro ($839.7 million) in 2015, preliminary data of the country's statistics office showed on Tuesday.
The statistics office gave no comparative figures, but said that the trade surplus is the highest in 11 years.
Slovenia’s exports increased by 4.4% to 23.9 billion euro in the January - December period, while imports rose 2.7% to 23.2 billion euro, the statistics office said.
In December alone, Slovenia recorded a trade deficit of 64 million euro.
Exports grew 2.3% on the year in December to 1.85 billion euro, while imports increased 7.8% to 1.91 billion euro.
In December, exports to EU member states were 0.9% lower than a year earlier, while imports were up by 9.7%. The value of trade with EU member states in December amounted to 1.3 billion euro for exports and 1.5 billion euro for imports.
In 2014 Slovenia turned to a trade surplus of 393.9 million euro, as exports climbed by 6.9% to 23 billion euro, while imports rose 2.4% to 22.6 billion euro, preliminary data of the country's statistics office showed earlier.
