LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), December 28 (SeeNews) – Slovenia is the top performer in Southeast Europe (SEE) in the latest Best Countries for Business report by Forbes, released in December.
Slovenia ranks 31st among 161 countries in the ranking, while Romania, on the 41st spot, is the second-best in SEE, according to data posted on the website of Forbes.
Economic growth in Slovenia reached 5.0% in 2017 and is projected to be near or reach 5% in 2018, while continued fiscal consolidation through increased tax collection and social security contributions will likely result in a balanced government budget in 2019, Forbes said.
Bulgaria occupies the 46th place and Croatia takes the 52nd. Serbia ranks 56th, Macedonia is 68th, Montenegro 72nd, and Albania 74th. Moldova is 87th, while Bosnia and Herzegovina, 98th, ranks last among the countries in SEE.
The United Kingdom leads the ranking despite the country’s exit from the European Union, as the foundation of its business climate remains attractive, Forbes said.
