LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), July 4 (SeeNews) – Slovenia is granting a total of 2.9 million euro ($3.4 million) to two companies in the country's northeastern province Pomurje to promote their growth, the economy ministry said on Wednesday.
The government will grant 2 million euro to orchid grower Ocean Orchids to build a logistics center in the country's Dobrovnik, worth over 9 million euro, the economy ministry said in a statement.
By opening a logistics center, Ocean Orchids plans to expand its existing capacities and enter into new business activities. It will also employ an additional 40 staff over the next two years.
Ocean Orchids cultivates some 2 million orchids yearly, as exports generate about 64% of its turnover.
The economy ministry will also grant 900,000 euro to Medicop, the manufacturer of medical equipment and ambulance vehicles, to help fund the construction of a 6.6 million euro warehouse and development hub.
Also on Thursday the economy ministry announced a further grant of 41.2 million euro for the development of the Pomurje region.
