January 24 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's energy agency has given the go ahead to a 3.5 billion euro ($3.8 billion) plan for the development of the country's electricity distribution network by 2032, state-owned power system operator SODO said.
The plan, proposed by SODO, envisages 2.5 billion euro of investments in Slovenia's low and medium voltage network to reduce the vulnerability of the grid to unfavourable weather conditions, the power system operator said in a statement last week.
Under the plan, the share of underground medium and low-voltage lines will rise to 71% from 53%, SODO said.
The plan will also focus on increasing the resilience of the system to cyber attacks. The plan was drafted by SODO in cooperation with the five power distribution companies operating in Slovenia and aims to allow the country to meet the increased electricity demand that is expected to come with the green transition.
