January 19 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia has extended the deadline for air carriers interested in applying for financial incentives for introducing new flights from its international airports in Skopje and Ohrid, local media reported.
The deadline for submitting applications was extended from January 19 to January 26, local news outlet Nezavisen reported earlier this week.
The ministry of transport and communications said that the deadline was extended alongside the dropping of the requirement for potential candidates to have a positive balance in 2020 and 2021, given the pandemic crisis, according to the report. The criteria that the carriers must have carried at least 10 million passengers in 2019, and booked a profit of at least 25 million euro ($27 million) in the same year, remain unchanged.
In December, the government said that it would provide financial incentives to airlines that will introduce new flights between January 2023 and December 2025.
