The solar plants featuring over 1,300 photovoltaic panels mounted on the roofs of Kaufland stores in Bucharest and Focsani will help cut CO2 emissions by 760 tonnes per year.
"Romania needs to capitalize more and more on solar energy because this is a real solution to reduce pollution and thus improve the quality of life and streamline energy consumption, energy independence of the beneficiary, and predictability of energy costs," co-founder and CEO of Simtel Team, Iulian Nedea, said.
The period from design, authorization, acquisition, installation, and commissioning lasted two and a half months.
"We set out to develop at least nine photovoltaic panel installations in other spaces belonging to Kaufland Romania annually until 2025. Here we are taking another significant step in this regard, and the benefits are clear," Kaufland Romania communications and corporate affairs director Valer Hancas said.
Simtel Team was founded in 2010 by three Romanian entrepreneurs - Iulian Nedea, Sergiu Bazarciuc and Radu Vilau. The company is listed on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange and operates in three business areas - telecommunications, green energy, and industrial automation.
Its shares traded 1.37% higher at 29.6 lei ($7/ 6 euro) on the Bucharest bourse as at 1345 CET on Tuesday.
