October 5 (SeeNews) - Siemens and General Electric (GE) have placed bids in a tender launched by Russia's Gazprom Energoholding for the construction of a thermal power plant (TPP) in Pancevo, in Serbia's autonomous province of Vojvodina, Russian media reported.
GE participates in the tender in consortium with Turkey's Gamma, while Siemens has joined forces with Greece's Metka, Russian news agency ITAR-TASS quoted on Wednesday the president of the company, Denis Fedorov, as saying.
"The envelopes were opened some days ago. We will provide details this or next week," Fedorov said.
In 2015, Serbian oil company NIS [BEL:NIIS] said a joint venture with Gazprom Energoholding's unit Tsentrenergoholding plans to invest 140 million euro ($164.7 million) in the construction of a 140 MW gas-fired thermal power plant (TPP) in Pancevo.
Tsentrenergoholding owns a 51% stake in the joint venture and NIS holds the remainder. There is a possibility to expand the TPP in the second phase and in that case, its capacity would be raised to 208 MW, while the investment would go up to 183 million euro, NIS said back then.
Russia's Gazprom Neft controls 56.15% of NIS, while the Serbian government owns a 29.87% stake.
