SOFIA (Bulgaria), May 18 (SeeNews) – Around 11% of businesses in Romania and Slovenia reported having analysed big data in 2016, above the average for the EU which stands at 10%, the bloc’s statistical office said.
Among EU member states from Southeast Europe (SEE), Bulgaria posted the lowest share of companies analyzing big data, Eurostat said in a press release on Tuesday.
In 2016, a total of 7% of Bulgarian businesses analysed big data.
Around 9% of Croatian companies reported having analysed big data in 2016, just below the EU average.
However, 5% of Croatian businesses said they have analysed big data generated from social media in 2016 - the highest among EU member states from SEE.
Some 4% of businesses in Romania and Slovenia reported having analysed big data generated from social media in 2016, while Bulgaria again ranked lowest among SEE member state, with a share of 2%.
Big data is a term used to describe data sets whose size is too large to allow for processing by traditional software.
