July 3 (SeeNews) - China Shandong International Economic & Technical Cooperation Co. has launched a project for the construction of four public underground garages in Serbia's capital Belgrade, deputy mayor Goran Vesic said on Wednesday.
Shandong has started the preparation of the design of the underground garages after winning a tender for the project, Vesic said in a press release issued by the city council.
Belgrade needs about 5,000 parking spaces in the city centre, Vesic added.
Last month, Shandong and the city of Belgrade signed an agreement worth 50 million euro ($56 million) for the construction of the garages, which will provide the Serbian capital with 3,000 new parking spots.
