May 24 (SeeNews) - Serbia’s autonomous province of Vojvodina expects to complete construction works on the 15.8 km road connecting Stapar to Sivac by the end of autumn, the local government said on Wednesday.
The cost of the works is estimated at 1.4 billion dinars ($12.9 million/11.9 million euro), the Vojvodina provincial government said in a statement.
The road will provide easier access to the Sombor-Kikinda high-speed road that would stretch from Serbia's border with Hungary to the border with Romania.
"The construction of the Sombor-Kikinda high-speed road should start in the second half of the year," the head of the provincial government, Igor Mirovic, said.
