April 19 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-run copper mining and smelting company RTB Bor said on Thursday its exports rose 34% on the year to $54.3 million (43.9 million euro) in the first quarter of 2018.
The company sold 7,523 tonnes of copper in the first three months of 2018, or 700 tonnes more than the exports carried out in the like period of last year, RTB Bor said in its corporate newsletter Kolektiv.
Foreign exchange inflows rose significantly due to RTB Bor's higher production, the hike in copper prices, as well as constant high demand from countries in the region, RTB Bor said.
In March alone, the exports of RTB Bor amounted to $16.1 million, with revenue from the sale of copper abroad standing at $15.35 million. RTB Bor exported to Poland, Germany, Turkey, Croatia, Italy, Bulgaria and Romania in the third month of this year.
In December, Serbia's government launched a call for an adviser in the privatisation of RTB Bor. Discussions with potential investors are ongoing, including discussions on addressing environmental risks, the government said back then.
