June 11 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-run copper mining and smelting company RTB Bor said on Monday it increased the production of copper ore by 32% year-on-year to 3.67 million tonnes in May.
The company's copper concentrate output grew by 20% to 4,336 tonnes in May - the highest monthly production figure in the last 20 years, RTB Bor said in its corporate newsletter Kolektiv.
The total copper ore output of RTB Bor amounted to 15.2 million tonnes in the first five months of 2018, while copper concentrate production totalled 17,780 tonnes in the period under review.
Last month, Serbia's prime minister Ana Brnabic said the government planned to call a tender for a strategic partner in RTB Bor in June.
A Serbian court approved in July 2016 a plan for the restructuring of RTB Bor, allowing the write-off of 90% of the company's unsecured debt. Under the plan, the remaining 10% of debt will be repaid over eight years with a one-year grace period, while the secured debt will be converted into equity.
