BELGRADE (Serbia), December 28 (SeeNews) – Serbia's telecommunications regulator Ratel has signed a cooperation agreement with Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services (SMATSA) to improve air navigation services, Ratel said.
The agreement aims to establish a coordinated work of the two regulators and ensure the cost-effective use of radio-frequency spectrum, the consistent application of electronic communications regulations, as well as the implementation of measures for protection against security risks in information and communication, Ratel said in a statement earlier this week.
Ratel and SMATSA intend to cooperate in issuing individual licenses for radio frequencies, investigating interference in radiocommunication and radionavigation systems, as well as enhancing air traffic safety, the telecoms regulator said.
SMATSA was established in 2003 as a limited liability company for air navigation services provision, thus succeeding the previous federal air traffic control authority which was part of the ministry of transport.
