BELGRADE (Serbia) April 6 (SeeNews) – Serbia's central government budget deficit reached 8.9 billion dinars ($82.4 million/72.6 million euro) in the first quarter, well below the projected 62 billion dinars, the country's finance minister Dusan Vujovic said.
The minister expects a total first quarter shortfall of 15 billion dinars when it comes to the consolidated state budget, a statement, posted on the website of the financial ministry on Tuesday, said.
The fiscal results of the central government turned better than expected despite unplanned expenditures, including costs related to the upcoming snap elections on April 24, the minister noted.
He added the results are a sign of an economic uplift for Serbia.
Final budget data is set to be available in about a week.
