November 15 (SeeNews) - Serbia's October consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.5% month-on-month after increasing by 1.6% in September, the state statistics bureau said on Thursday.
Year-on-year, Serbia's consumer price inflation accelerated to 8.9% in October from 8.0% in September. Cumulative inflation for the first 10 months of the year was 8.2%.
The bureau started calculating Serbia's CPI in January, seeking to make the measuring of Serbia's inflation comparable with the harmonised inflation index used in the European Union. Before 2007 the statistics office used to release only data about changes in retail prices.
Serbia's government has set its consumer price inflation target for this year at 6.5%.
