December 19 (SeeNews) - Serbia's Nis city government plans to launch a tender for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the first half of 2019, mayor Darko Bulatovic said.
The city government is in the process of expropriation of land for the construction of the collectors of the future plant, Bulatovic said in a video file posted on the YouTube channel of news portal Belle Amie on Tuesday.
The project includes the construction of six infrastructure units and channels with a total length of about 35 kilometres, the city government said in a separate statement.
"The value of the project is about 60 million euro ($68.3 million), and 45 million euro of it will be financed by the European Union through IPA funds," Sakis Kurdas, a representative of the EU delegation to Serbia, said in the video file.
Serbia is currently processing 8% of its wastewater and needs to build 320 treatment plants until 2041 to meet the requirements of the European Union.
