BELGRADE (Serbia), March 22 (SeeNews) – Serbian oil and gas company NIS [BEL:NIIS] sold record-high 187,000 tonnes of aviation fuel in 2018, thanks to exports and sales to the airports in the capital Belgrade and Nis, the second biggest city in the country, the company said.
NIS purchased three new specialised tanks in order to ensure timely and safe supplies to the Nikola Tesla airport in Belgrade last year, the company said in a statement earlier this week.
"NIS supplies fuel to almost all airlines that fly to the Belgrade airport, as its biggest customers include Air Serbia, Aeroflot, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways," the director of the company's aviation fuel unit, Andrey Pokoev, said.
NIS operates a warehouse for aviation fuel in the immediate vicinity of Belgrade airport.
The company's net profit dropped 7% to 25.1 billion dinars ($240.5 million/212.8 million euro) in 2018. Oil and gas production amounted to 1.3 million tonnes of oil equivalent, and 3.8million tonnes of crude oil and semi-finished product were processed, an increase of 6%.
