September 30 (SeeNews) - Serbia's trade deficit rose by 56% on the year in the first eight months of 2022, reaching $7.939 billion (8.129 billion euro), the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Exports increased by 28% year-on-year to $18.851 billion in the January-August period, while imports went up by 25% to $26.789 billion, the statistical office said in a statement.
The export-import ratio fell to 70.4% from 76.3% in the first eight months of 2021.
In August alone, Serbia's exports increased by 6.6% on the year to $2.178 billion, while imports added 11.6% to $3.077 billion, resulting in a $899 million deficit.
On a monthly comparison basis, exports increased by 1% in August, while imports increased by 5.7%.
