April 20 (SeeNews) - Serbia's power exports from January 1 to April 6 tripled due to the higher output of hydropower plants, a senior official at state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) said.
EPS received 74 million euro ($89 million) in revenues from the sale of 1.4 billion kWh of electricity on international markets in the review period, managing director Milorad Grcic said in a statement on Monday.
The EPS hydropower plants generated 4 billion kWh of electriricty in January 1 - April 6, which is about 50% more than in the like period of 2020 and about 27% more than in the respective period of 2019, Grcic said.
EPS' total power production amounted to 11 billion kWh in the review period, up 9% on the year, due to the stable performance of coal-fired power plants, he added.
EPS produced 34 billion kWh of electricity in 2020, up 2% on an annual basis.
