May 22 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-run petrochemicals producer HIP Petrohemija plans to resume ethylene production on May 23 after a three-week suspension, the company said on Friday.
HIP Petrohemija suspended ethylene production to check the functionality at the factory and execute technological cleaning of equipment and prepare it for safe and efficient work at high capacities, the company said in a statement.
"The domestic and foreign markets were properly supplied with petrochemical products even during the downtime," Misa Bulajic, executive director for Production and Technical Support at HIP Petrohemija, said.
All activities related to the restart of the production process will be realised in compliance with the prescribed safety measures and in accordance with the applicable procedures, in order to protect the working and living environment, the company noted.
HIP Petrohemija owns petrochemical complexes in Pancevo, Elemir and Crepaja. It specialises in producing high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and other petrochemical products with an annual production capacity of 700,000 tonnes.
