May 17 (SeeNews) - Serbia's president Aleksandar Vucic has said he expects the country's gross domestic product (GDP) to grow by between 3.8% and 4.0% this year.
Serbia will have budget surplus in 2018 for the third straight year and will have surplus next year as well, while the debt-to-GDP ratio could fall below 50%, Vucic said during the Serbia-North Rhine-Westphalia business forum in Germany's Dusseldorf, according to a press release posted on the website of the governing conservative SNS party earlier this week.
Serbia's central government debt was equivalent to 59% of the projected 2018 GDP, down from 61.5% at the end of 2017, according to finance ministry data.
Earlier this month, the European Commission maintained its forecast for Serbia’s economic growth in 2018 at 3.3%, backed by domestic demand and investment activity.
