March 28 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government said on Tuesday that ice cream maker Frikom and butter producer Dijamant remain stable despite the financial difficulties of their Croatian parent Agrokor.
Frikom and Dijamant meet all deadlines for payments to suppliers and their assets are significantly higher than their liabilities, the Serbian government said in a statement.
The directors of Frikom and Dijamant, Teo Vujcic and Gojko Djosic, respectively, held a meeting with Serbia's Agriculture Minister Rasim Ljajic on Tuesday to discuss the situation at the two firms.
Both companies have significantly increased their production and sales since the beginning of 2017, Vujcic and Djosic said, according to the statement.
Earlier this month, the Serbian unit of Slovenian retailer Mercator said it is meeting all of its contractual obligations to suppliers despite the financial problems facing Mercator's parent Agrokor.
At the end of February Moody's Investor Services changed the outlook on Agrokor from "stable" to "negative", after it downgraded the company's corporate family rating (CFR) to B3 from B2 in January.
Following Moody's January decision, Agrokor pulled out of a syndicated loan deal it had struck with several international lenders, which sent the price of its bonds on international markets into a downward spiral.
