April 16 (SeeNews) - Serbia's Free Zone Pirot expects investments worth 17 million euro ($19.2 million) in 2019, its director Dragan Kostic said on Tuesday.
"This year we will apply a new development approach by expanding the free zone regime to the neighbouring municipalities of Babusnica and Dimitrovgrad, which is an underdeveloped area," Kostic said in a video file published on the website of Serbian public broadcaster RTS.
Serbian company Eko Radar plans to invest 2 million euro in Dimitrovgrad municipality, a further 2.5 million euro will be invested in Babusnica and the remainder in Pirot, Kostic explained.
In October, Free Zone Pirot won the Global Free Zones of 2018 ranking for the region of Europe compiled by the fDi Intelligence magazine of the Financial Times.
A total of 387 million euro was invested in Free Zone Pirot in the period 2012-2017, while the number of investors rose by 22% last year, finance minister Sinisa Mali said back in October.
