November 24 (SeeNews) - State-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) said it plans to start a project for the overhaul of block A4 of thermal power plant (TPP) Nikola Tesla A in March.
EPS plans to invest 41 million euro ($48.6 million) in the project, while a further 8.5 million euro will be granted by the nitrogen oxide reduction fund of the European Union's Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), the company said in the latest edition of its corporate magazine.
The company has already started receiving the equipment for the overhaul which will take about 140 days, EPS said.
EPS plans to launch the overhaul of A5 block of Nikola Tesla A in 2018, after the completion of the project for block A4. An overhaul project for A1 and A2 blocks is envisaged for 2020 and 2021, respectively.
In September, EPS said it signed a 167 million euro agreement with Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems to build a flue gas desulphurisation unit at Nikola Tesla A. The flue gas desulphurisation system in Nikola Tesla A will be built for blocks A3, A4, A5 and A6 and will use a limestone wet scrubbing system. The deadline for completing the construction works is 42 months.
Nikola Tesla A is part of the Termoelektrane Nikola Tesla (TENT) power generation complex, which also includes the TPP Nikola Tesla B, TPP Morava and TPP Kolubara power plants.
