September 6 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) plans to invest 1 million euro ($1.1 million) in the overhaul of Pirot hydro power plant (HPP) in 2019, the managing director of EPS said.
EPS has invested about 250 million dinars in Pirot HPP since 2013, Milorad Grcic said in a statement on Thursday.
The plant has produced about 3 billion kWh of electricity since its launch 29 years ago, he added.
"In the Pirot region, we have invested about 3 million euro in the distribution network. As the Pirot region develops and there is a serious investor interest, EPS will provide infrastructure and a stable electricity supply," Grcic said.
Pirot HPP operates two 40 MW units and generates about 30% of the electricity produced by EPS from renewable sources.
