February 9 (SeeNews) - State-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) is inviting tenders for the rehabilitation of seven small hydropower plants (HPPs) in Serbia, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Thursday.
EPS will use the proceeds of an EBRD loan covering the cost of a programme for reconstruction of a total of 15 small hydropower plants to fund the project, the lender said in a statement.

The expected duration of works is 40 weeks and the bidding deadline is March 30, the EBRD said.
The works on each plant will include demolition and/or dismantling parts of existing structures, performing earthworks, concrete, reinforcement, masonry and insulation works, metal and aluminium works, facade, painting and drywall works as well as installation of water supply and sewerage system, the bank added.
The seven HPPs included in the project are Raska, Radaljska Banja, Seljasnica, Kratovska Reka, Pod Gradom, Turica and Moravica.
In 2011, the EBRD said it was lending EPS a total of 45 million euro ($48 million) to refurbish 15 small hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 18 MW and to build seven new ones on existing dams with a combined capacity of 13 MW.
