March 4 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-run power distributor Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has completed an 8.5 million euro ($9.6 million) project for the installation of a nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions reduction unit at thermal power plant Nikola Tesla A, the company said.
The unit was installed at A4 block of the power plant and allowed the reduction of NOx emissions to below 200 mg per cubic metre, EPS said in a statement on Friday.
A total of 80% of the financing for the project was provided under the EU's Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA), EPS said.
"The goal is to bring every EPS plant to a satisfactory ecological level. We want to comply with EU regulations," the managing director of EPS, Milorad Grcic, said in the statement.
In August, EPS completed a project to increase Unit A4's capacity to 332 MW from 308.5 MW and enhance its energy efficiency. A total of 53.5 million euro were invested in the project.
Nikola Tesla A is part of the Termoelektrane Nikola Tesla (TENT) power generation complex, which also includes the TPP Nikola Tesla B, TPP Morava and TPP Kolubara power plants.
