January 8 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) increased its coal production by 5% to 38.5 million tonnes in 2019, managing director Milorad Grcic said.
Coal production at the Kolubara mining basin amounted to 30 million tonnes last year, Grcic said in a statement last week.
"Thermal power plants produced about 3% more electricity compared with 2018," Grcic said.
Serbia's government said in July it plans to transform EPS into a joint-stock company in 2020 in order to improve the viability of its operations and ensure its professional management.
