Serbia's state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Serbia (EPS) signed on Friday a 19.9 million euro ($21.9 million) deal with U.S. GE Power for the delivery of new turbines for the upgrade of the 308 MW A4 unit of its Nikola Tesla thermal power plant (TENT) in Obrenovac.
The renovation of the block, which comes after 250,000 hours of operation, will increase its capacity by 24 MW and will also result in savings of 6 million euro annually thanks to better efficiency and the use of less coal, EPS CEO Milorad Grcic said in a statement following the contract signing ceremony.
The TENT A power station comprises a total of six units with a combined capacity of 1,650 MW.
