BELGRADE (Serbia), March 21 (SeeNews) – The Belgrade city government said it signed a 2 billion dinars ($20.7 million/16.9 million euro) agreement with Serbian civil engineering group Energoprojekt [BEL:ENHL] for the installation of tram rails on Ada Bridge.
Energoprojekt will have 420 days for the installation of tram rails with a total length of 2.7 kilometres and with this project the overhaul of the Ada Bridge will be completed, Belgrade city manager Goran Vesic said in a statement on Tuesday.
The circulation of trams at the Ada Bridge will be launched in May 2019, Vesic said.
The Belgrade city government also plans to start works on the design of a new bridge over the Sava river, which will replace the Old Sava Bridge and will be equipped with rails for the circulation of trams and metro trainsets, he added.
In January, the Belgrade city government said Energoprojekt, Austria's Strabag and a Spanish company placed bids in the tender for the installation of tram rails on Ada Bridge.
The Ada Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge over the Sava river in Belgrade. The bridge crosses the tip of Ada Ciganlija island, connecting the municipalities of Cukarica and New Belgrade.
