April 19 (SeeNews) - Serbia's president Aleksandar Vucic said he expects the country's central government debt to stand at 52% of the projected gross domestic product (GDP) at the end of 2018.
The country will post a budget surplus for the third year in a row in 2018, as it has resolved the public finance problems and does not need new large loans, Vucic said in a video file posted on the website of public broadcaster RTS on Wednesday.
"We will repay a foreign debt of additional $700 million (566 million euro) before the end of the year," Vucic also said.
Serbia's central government debt decreased to 21.61 billion euro at the end of February from 23.22 billion euro at the end of 2017, according to finance ministry data.
The debt was equivalent to 57.9% of the projected 2018 GDP, down from 61.5% at the end of 2017, data posted on the website of the finance ministry shows.
