January 30 (SeeNews) - Serbia’s state-owned Biosense Institute, part of the University of Novi Sad, plans to open a new research and development (R&D) centre worth 28 million euro ($30.5 million) in the northern city of Novi Sad this spring, the ministry of science, technological development and innovation said.
The company plans to employ 250 scientists at the R&D centre working in the fields of biotechnology and nanotechnology, the ministry said in a statement last week.
“Serbia has invested a lot of money into this facility. Construction works cost 8.5 million euro and the value of the equipment is close to 7 million euro. The European Union donated 14 million euro towards the cost of the project,” said minister for public investments, Marko Blagojevic.
Construction works began two years ago and are planned to be completed within the next month.
Biosense Institute was founded in 2015 and specialises in developing digital solutions for the farming sector.
