August 8 (SeeNews) - Belgrade-based company Aqos is developing a solar car whose road tests are planned for 2020, company executive Marko Cvetkovic told SeeNews.
The design of the solar cell is in its final stage, Cvetkovic added. The next phase involves the engine, the battery and the suspension, with an electronic simulation of the components expected by the end of the year. Then follows the prototype, which will require a new funding round.

“We estimate that the first road tests should be made largely by 2020. We hope that the production will take place in Serbia, financed from abroad - that is the scenario," Cvetkovic said.
The main challenge is to create a solar panel that can produce electricity in all weather conditions, the manager explained. Aqos research is focused on cells made for the first time completely from the synthesized material Sb2S3, which has an extremely high efficiency at low light according to the results reported in scientific literature.
Aqos is determined also to find an elegant solution for the body of the vehicle, whose aestetics has so far has been sacrificed for the functionality of the solar cells.
