BELGRADE (Serbia), January 3 (SeeNews) – The number of mobile phone subscribers in Serbia fell to 8.82 million at the end of September, from 9.09 million at the end of December 2016, according to data of the country's telecommunications regulator.
The number of fixed-line subscribers decreased to 2.5 million in September 2017 from 2.55 million at the end of the previous year, figures posted on the website of the Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (Ratel) show.
Serbia, with a population of around 7 million, has three operators active in the mobile segment - Telekom Srbija, Telenor and Vip Mobile.
Telekom Srbija had a 46% share of the overall number of subscribers at the end of September, followed by Telenor with 31% and Vip Mobile with 23%.
The share of postpaid subscribers was 54% at the end of September.
Serbia's media content subscribers increased to 1.71 million at the end of the first nine months of 2017 from 1.66 million in December 2016. The leading platform for distribution of radio and TV programmes to end-users in Serbia was digital CATV, with a market share of 36%, followed by IPTV and analogue CATV with 25% and 23%, respectively. DTH had a market share of 15%.
A total of 48% of the fixed broadband Internet access subscribers used the xDSL platform, followed by cable and wireless connections with 40% and 6%, respectively.
