September 11 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has expressed concerns over the stalled process of reforms at Serbian state-owned gas monopoly Srbijagas, Serbia's energy ministry said on Wednesday.
The delay of the reforms may pose problems for the Nis-Dimitrovgrad gas pipeline project, which would be partially financed by the EBRD, the ministry said in a statement after energy minster Zorana Mihajlovic met with a delegation from the multi-lateral lender in Belgrade.
The Nis-Dimitrovgrad pipeline is part of a Bulgarian-Serbian project to connect the two countries' gas transmission systems by the end of 2015.
The planned Nis-Dimitrovgrad-Sofia bi-directional pipeline will contribute to the security of the gas supply of the two countries while also being critical to the development of the gas market of the entire region. The investment required for the 180 kilometre pipeline, with a capacity of around 1.8 billion cubic meters per year, is estimated at 100-120 million euro ($132.6-$159.1 million). The first gas should flow by the end of 2015.
