November 17 (SeeNews) - The Serbian Development Agency said it handed contracts worth a combined 80 million dinars ($696,766/649,526 euro) to 116 participants in a project for delivering support to beginners who want to start up their own business.
The Start up project includes education about starting and running a business, training for creating a business plan, grants to fund the best business ideas, and mentoring for businesses at the early stage of development, Serbia's Chamber of Commerce and Industry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The contracts were granted by the president of Serbia's Development Agency, Zeljko Sertic, during an official event held at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
In the first phase of the project, 156 participants passed free training related to starting their own businesses, business plan development, and the successful running of companies.
In the second phase, the participants applied for financial support for their own entrepreneurial ideas and 116 of them received a positive decision from the commission for allocation of funds.
The project is one of six programs that the the Development Agency, a body within the economy ministry, conducts to support the development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurs.
