March 11 (SeeNews) - An unnamed Serbian company plans to build a combined heat and power (CHP) plant worth 2.5 million euro ($2.8 million) in Bosnia's south-west municipality of Bosanski Petrovac, local media reported.
Bosanski Petrovac will sign a deal with the Serbian company for the construction of the plant in the next few months, after which the name of the investor will be revealed, news portal eKapija.com reported earlier this week, quoting the mayor of Bosanski Petrovac, Dejan Prosic, as saying.
The new plant, which will be fired on wood chips, will be developed under a public-private partnership and will have a capacity of 1 MW to produce electricity and of 4-5 MW to produce heat, Prosic said. It will employ 10 people.
The plant will be located in an area where the Bosanski Petrovac municipality plans to develop a 12-hectare business zone. The Serbian investor in the CHP project will be the first to arrive in the zone.
The municipality plans to attract a total of 5 or 6 investors in the future zone, aiming to strengthen its wood processing industry for which the region has been known, Prosic said.
Bosanski Petrovac is located in Bosnia's Federation, one of two autonomous entities forming Bosnia and Herzegovina. The other one is the Serb Republic.
