October 27 (SeeNews) - Serbian state-owned company Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said on Friday it plans to use part of the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) towards the cost of a 91.5 million euro ($106.3 million) project for the overhaul of railway infrastructure.
The company intends to launch tenders for the project, including for the overhaul of sections along Pan-European Transport Corridor X, in the fourth quarter of 2017 and the first half of 2018, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said in a statement.
The list of projects will include the reconstruction of the Jajinci-Mala Krsna section of the Belgrade-Rakovica-Resnik line and the overhaul of the Mala Krsna railway station, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said.
Moreover, the company plans to call tenders for the delivery of an information system for the management of train traffic, remote control systems at the railway hub in Belgrade and a visual and audio system for passenger information, the company added.
In December, Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije said it plans to almost triple its annual investments to 640 million euro in 2017 from 215 million euro in 2016, in order to reconstruct railway lines with a total length of 275 km.
Infrastruktura Zeleznice Srbije was established as a joint stock company in 2015, as a part of the reorganisation implemented in railway operator Zeleznice Srbije which saw the uncoupling of the different sectors into separate companies.
