December 30 (SeeNews) - Serbian taxi drivers who buy a new electric, hybrid or compressed natural gas vehicle will get a state subsidy of 8,000 euro ($9,050), the government said.
In order for a driver to be eligible for a subsidy, the vehicle has to cost at least 13,000 euro, and meet the Euro 6 emission standard, the government said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The decision represents a continuation of the implementation of policy measures that the government has been undertaking in the field of environment protection in recent years," the government said.
In March 2020, Serbia's government introduced subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs) as part of measures to improve air quality.
The subsidies amounted to 250 euro for electric mopeds and 500 euro for motorcycles, while for electric passenger cars and light commercial vehicles it was set at 5,000 euro.
A subsidy of 3,500 euro was made available for the acquisition of hybrid vehicles with carbon dioxide emissions of up to 50 grammes per kilometre. The incentive for the acquisition of hybrid vehicles with emissions between 50 and 100 grammes per kilometre was set at 5,000 euro.
